Studio FAQs

  • Start with our Reformer I Foundations class—no experience needed! Pilates is its own discipline that focuses on breath, spinal alignment, and controlled movement. Even if you have a dance, yoga or athletic background, the precision required here is unique—think of it as learning a new language for your body.

We recommend at least 6-8 Reformer I Foundations classes before progressing to Reformer Flow.

  • We recommend against it.

While your strength or flexibility helps, Pilates demands specific form and stability to protect your joints (especially your spine). We build these skills safely in Foundations—no two disciplines cue movement the same way.

Our Reformer I Foundations ensures you build these skills safely—no two disciplines cue movement the same way, and mastering the basics prevents injury long-term.

  • Yes! Every studio has its own teaching style, and unfortunately, not all prioritize form equally. Some studios lean into group fitness over technique, but at Valeō, we emphasize precision and safety above all.

Foundations ensures you’re aligned with our methods—and lets your instructor assess your needs.

  • We recommend 6-8 Foundations classes before progressing—but remember, this isn't a "beginner" class in the traditional sense.

Foundations offers the same intensity as a Reformer Flow class, just in a more controlled environment where mastering form takes priority.

Many clients (including pregnant women and those in different cycle phases) choose to stay in Foundations indefinitely—it's about finding your perfect pace.

  • Yes, with important precautions: You must have OBGYN clearance, review our pregnancy policy, and sign our liability waiver.

We recommend sticking to Reformer I Foundations (notify your instructor for modifications) and avoiding any movements that weren't already in your practice pre-pregnancy.

  • Diversity and inclusion are pillars of our community.

Our clients range from 21 to 75 years young, across all genders and fitness levels.

Whether you're a seasoned athlete or brand-new to movement, you'll find a welcoming, judgment-free zone here. (Minimum age: 18. We reserve the right to request ID.)

  • While we encourage movement for all bodies, recognize that group classes are not a substitute for private Pilates or medical care. Instructors will offer general modifications, but their priority is maintaining class flow for all participants.

For specialized attention, we recommend booking a 1:1 session with a studio that specializes in individual Pilates therapies.

  • Yes, they’re mandatory for hygiene (no bare feet on shared equipment) and safety (preventing slips during standing exercises). Plus, they help you engage your feet properly!

Grip socks can be purchased in store for $28 plus HST.

  • Privacy for our clients is non-negotiable. But the short answer is yes, under certain circumstances

In designated non-exposure zones only (ask your instructor for approved reformers). Your recording must exclusively feature you—no other clients may be in frame, and we reserve the right to audit any content taken to ensure privacy requirements have been met.

  • We kindly ask for 8 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. We get it—life happens! This window gives you flexibility to adjust your day (without the stress of a 12–24 hour policy) while allowing waitlisted clients time to plan.

Please note that all cancellations within the eight hour window are subject to loss of class credits with no exceptions. This is done intentionally to prioritize the integrity of our booking systems.

  • Our unlimited members (the “obsessed” tier membership) receive 4 guest passes per year to share the Valeō experience! (Note: Intro offers and class packs don't include guest passes.)

  • No—these amenities require a separate monthly add-on or hydro-suite pack purchase. We keep memberships focused on movement, but recovery upgrades are available!

  • Arriving more than 10 minutes late means you cannot join class. The first 10 minutes are critical for warming up safely, and late entries disrupt others' focus. (Exceptions made for road closures—we're located at busy intersections!)

Arriving late, and ultimately missing the class, will result in the loss of the classcredit with no exceptions.

  • Doors open 15 minutes before class. Please wait quietly in the lounge until the previous class exits—this lets them finish mindfully.

Once the curtains open, you may enter (and no rushing for reformers—let everyone exit gracefully before running to claim your preferred reformer!).

  • Yes! Refer a friend who joins any membership (Balanced, Consistent, Dedicated, or Obsessed), and you'll earn ONE class credit.

(Note: Intro promos and class packs don't qualify—memberships only!)
